amazon-inAmazon India is set to offer music and video streaming services later this year, reports The Economic Times. Earlier, Television Post had reported that Amazon had hired former Multi Screen Media executive Nitesh Kripalani to head its digital content business. Kripalani was instrumental in developing  Sony Liv and Liv Sports.

"Lingaa" took fantastic openings upon its release thanks to the positive pre-release buzz created by the film's teaser and the trailer. The film fared well in its opening weekend, but mixed reviews affected its business in the following days.
"Lingaa" has minted over ₹140 crore in 17 days at the worldwide box office. The film emerged as the highest grossing south Indian film (including Telugu dubbed version) of 2014. However, the film has not really been a profitable venture for its makers as its world theatricals is estimated to be of a higher value.
"Lingaa" Tamil version continues to dominate some screens, while the Telugu and the Hindi dubbed versions of the film have turned out to be huge disasters at the box office. The film has reportedly resulted in losses for the distributors, who have bought the film. Latest buzz is that the distributors will be going on a hunger strike on 10 January.
Earlier, a section of the media had reported that "Lingaa" distributors have claimed that they have incurred huge losses on the film. Following the claims, Vendhar Movies, who had acquired the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of "Lingaa," released a press statement stating that the film's performance has not been as expected. They had asked distributors to wait untill Christmas for the collections to pick up.
"It is true that the film has not been doing as well as we would have expected. Probably, we shouldn't have released it on December 12. But, we are sure that the film will pick up during the Christmas," holidays," T. Siva, a representative of Vendhar Movies, told The Hindu.
But now the latest buzz is that the distributors and theatres owners of all areas have decided to on a hunger strike on 10 January at Valluvar Kottam, Chennai.
"Lingaa," directed by KS Ravi Kumar, has Rajinikanth in dual roles. Anushka Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha and Santhanam appear in supporting roles. The film's music is composed by AR Rahman and the Rajini starrer is produced by Rockline Entertainment.
