Celebs indulge in gluttony at Times Food Guide party
After
the launch of Times Food Guide Kolkata 2015 and the feting of the best
in the business at Times Food Awards, guests indulged in the finest
culinary delights served by the award-winning eateries. Why not? Monday
night was all about fun, frolic, camaraderie, laughter... but above all,
food.
The winners too were successful in enticing the star guests with the massive spread on offer. "We thank the food connoisseurs of Kolkata for the awards won by Dum Pukht, West View Bar & Grill and Pan Asian. Food & beverage have always been the soul of this hotel and with our six internationally acclaimed cuisine brands, we offer the city the globe's finest Indian & India's finest global cuisine," said Atul Bhalla, general manager, ITC Sonar.
The nattily dressed celebrities said bye to diet charts and lapped up the biryani, pasta, cupcakes and mousses on offer. Veteran filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta said, "This is the first time I was at this party and I enjoyed myself." Mainak Bhaumik added, "This is what a party is all about. What a way to kickstart the year!" Mumtaz Sorcar agreed, "This is the best gift that TOI can give us Bengalis. There is no party like this in Kolkata. I'm sure nobody will think of their diet, but indulge in the best of food."
And true that was. Fitness freak Tota Roychoudhury, who watches every morsel that he eats, indulged in desserts, especially makha sandesh.
Long after the party was over, the guests were discussing Mirisms. Sample this. Mir asked both Sandip Ray and Anjan Dutt to play a tug-of-war with Abir Chatterjee on stage. He also poked fun at Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's paunch, to which the director replied, 'Bhudi nazar wale, tera munh....' He also announced Kaushik Ganguly's new project after Khaad -'Khaddo' -the shooting for which began at the venue itself!

Cold Friday in Delhi, foggy Saturday expected
New Delhi, Jan 9 It was a cold Friday in Delhi as the maximum temperature settled
four notches below the season's average at 16.3 degrees Celsius. Dense
fog again affected the movement of trains -- but air services operated
on schedule.
According to the Met Office, the visibility dropped to 500 metres at 8.30 a.m. Friday, delaying over 50 trains.An official of the Northern Railway said 42 trains coming to the city were late, while 13 trains departing from Delhi were rescheduled.
There was no change in flight schedules, the IGI airport said in a statement.
People would not get any respite from cold Saturday, the Met Office said.
"There will be dense fog tomorrow
(Saturday) morning and the sky during the day will be partly cloudy.
Fog may return in the evening," said an official of the India
Meteorological Department.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 17 and 7 degrees Celsius, respectively.Friday's minimum temperature settled one notch below the season's average at 6.8 degrees Celsius.
The day's maximum humidity was 94 percent.
Thursday's maximum temperature was recorded six notches below the season's average at 14.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 7.2 degrees Celsius -- average for the season.
